Raising Quality Standard @ Stegg
Raising Quality Standard @ Stegg
Stegg is pleased to announce it has been awarded certification to AS9100, the highly coveted quality management standard for the aerospace industry. Stegg has been in business since 1956, specializing in the precision machining of highly engineered components for the automotive, medical, defense and aerospace industries. Stegg has been certified to the ISO 9001:2000 standard since 1996 as well as the rigorous automotive standard, TS16949 since 2007.
Two years ago, the management team determined it was in the best interest of the company from all perspectives to pursue both the premier automotive and aerospace quality standards as a means to raise the quality standard for the company. Our decision to implement AS9100 and obtain registration was done to assure our customers that Stegg has a good Quality Management System. Attaining the AS9100 registration is a great achievement that demonstrates our commitment to quality.
Manufacturing products for something as sophisticated as an airplane or space vehicle requires special attention during the production processes. Aircraft are designed to perform for 50 years or more, and properly maintaining the aircraft is essential for continued safe operation. The Federal Aviation Administration has determined that AS9100 is "a comprehensive quality standard containing the basic quality control/assurance elements required by the current Code of Federal Regulations”. Both the U.S. Department of Defense and NASA have reviewed the standard and have published guidance material on using the standard for contractual requirements.
We are proud of our extremely talented team, lead by Don Smith, Quality Manager, who have achieved first time compliance to the certification. Achieving AS9100 certification demonstrates the quality commitment throughout the company.
